My Journey into Digital Art (and a Little About Finding My Community)

I've been diving deep into the world of digital art in recent years, and it's amazing how technology has opened up new avenues for creativity. I remember when I first started, it was all about traditional media – pencils, paints, charcoal, the whole nine yards. And I still love those, they’re my priority, don't get me wrong! But digital art has this dynamic, ever-evolving feel that’s captured my attention as well as being really easy to clean up!

One of the things I've been exploring is how to connect with other artists online. It's so inspiring to see what others are creating and to share your own work. I've been spending time on different platforms, checking out tutorials, and just generally trying to find my tribe. It's a bit like building a community, which is something I think is really important for any artist.

I've also been experimenting with different styles and techniques. I've been watching a ton of videos online (YouTube has been a lifesaver!) and trying to absorb as much as I can. There are so many talented artists out there sharing their knowledge, and it's been a huge source of inspiration. I'm even thinking about starting my own channel to share my process and connect with others in a more direct way.

One of the biggest challenges I've faced is finding the time to create. Life can get busy, and it's easy to let your creative pursuits fall by the wayside. But I've learned that consistency is key. Even if it's just for a few minutes each day, making time for art is essential. It's like a form of self-care, a way to de-stress and connect with my inner self.

So, if you're an artist looking to explore the digital realm, I encourage you to take the plunge! There's a whole world of creativity waiting to be discovered. I personally love the app “Procreate”, it’s cheap and relatively easy to learn, as well as being very flexible and therefore a powerful digital art app. It has over 200 built in brushes and you can download more or even build your own.

…And don't be afraid to connect with other artists online – it's a great way to learn, grow, and find your community.
